Hello,
I am working on a very complex infomercial with 12 video layers (6 layers with Alpha Channels) + graphics built with Boris Red on the Avid Timeline. It is a 28:30 show.
My problem is that layer 12 is a .mov crawl (across the full timeline) and it will not render correctly.
Here is what is happening:
- It takes 2 hours to render the full 28:30 crawl. After the render it still shows it as unrendered. Even with an Avid restart.
- If I add edits every 5 minutes or so, I can render each piece individually successfully, but sone pieces still do not render.
- If I restart the Avid I get the Cleaning Database screen that comes up. When Avid starts us some of the pieces are now rendered, but others that were rendered are now not, with a red bar.
I am not sure what to do to get a consistant full render.
Thank you for any help.

Hi,
The last time I saw this on an Xpress Pro system, the effect looked like it wasn't rendered, but clicking out of the project into a different one and then going back seemed to refresh something and the effect would show as rendered. I'd try that first.
The next thing I'd try is deleting the media databases and letting Xpress Pro rebuild them. Exit Avid. Then open up your OMFI MediaFiles folder and find the two database files (named msmFMID.pmr and msmMMOB.mdb). Delete them. Restart Avid, and the system will rebuild them.
See if either of those fix your problem.
good luck, Carl

Yes that could be corruption.
