    re-installation of Avid dv

I hope there's someone out there who can help me with this problem. I have an old avid 3.0 version.

My internal hardrive crashed so i had to replace it. My os was win 2k so I re-installed all the softwares and drivers again.  I even re-installed avid v.2.0 to install fixes before re-installing v 3.0.  re-installed service pack 2 on win 2k before re-installing avid xpress dv 3.0. Finally, when I tried to start avid, I got this message:

    File 'c:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Xpress DV\Avid Users\ MyName\MyName\.ave" not found
Exception:SYS_ERROR, Status 3, msg: The system cannot find the path specified.

    Avid was unable to start.

    Thank you.
    Luis

Are you opening a new project, with new User Settings, or ones archived from your system prior to the crash?  Sounds like the User Settings are not in the same place that they sed to be.  The .ave file is part of the User Settings data.

    Re: re-installation of Avid dv

     Hello,

Thank you for your quick response.  The "Select Project" dialogue doesn't appear.  This message appears:

    File 'c:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Xpress DV\Avid Users\ MyName\MyName\.ave" not found
Exception:SYS_ERROR, Status 3, msg: The system cannot find the path specified.

You may be right about files not being in the right place.  What should I do to make avid find the specified file.

    Thank you.
