Please help with my new project

What project setting should I use if half my footage is dv ntsc 30i and the other half is dv 24p. Should I use the 23.976p project setting or 30i.

Oh, and I will later be later converting to the Pal format for broadcast. If that changes anything.

I'd say 30. The 24frame footage is still 30fps, it's just 24 frames imbedded in 30fps video. Assuming you'll be going to NTSC (you said you'll convert to PAL, but I'm guessing you're still finishing in NTSC as well), everything will end up 30fps either way, and pulling out arbitrary frames from your 30frame video and then re-adding them when you finish will look pretty bad. The 24-frame material is already pulled down in a way that people are used to.

So the short answer is unless you're only releasing in PAL (and want to work at 24 which will be sped up to 25 for release), go with 30.

I agree.. if it's TV, go 29.97. When folks ask, tell them you are working in "480i" so they will think it's all hip. ;)
