I am having issues with interlacing in my QTs. I have tried EVERY setting under the sun when compressing and cannot get it to go away. My movie was shot on 16, tranferred to DVCam and captured into a project with 23.976p formatting. I suspect I needed to put it in at 30i, but when I try to send an EDL to a 30i project and batch capture all kinds of chaos ensues. I have referred to several threads on this site about what to do and even after following the instructions I get error message after error message--when I try to arrow to "Editor" I get an "assertion failed" message; the console says "Had to dump the user's previous Input Chl to Track mapping due to differences in configuration." It seemed to work the first time but it only referenced a handful of clips in the sequence. I am not really surprised that it did not work since I have never used an EDL before, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what to click to change things. I am going to try doing a digital cut and then recapturing in 30i just for fun. Any suggestions on compression and/or EDL transfer?
Thanks!
Let's try to solve the initial problem first... if you have properly captured 24fps material in a progressive project (in this case 23.976), then you should only be seeing progressive frames with no interlace whatsover. If the cadence was wrong, then you would see some horrible interlace artifacts.
So, if you go to a shot with lots of motion, export 5 full frame TIFF and look at them. Other than motion blur, there should be no interlacing. Is this the case?
