Hey I just built an Intel Q4 system and began to reinstall MC when I was prompted with an "Incompatible OS" error. I'm running XP 64 bit and SP2. Previously I was running 32 bit Home Edition and it worked fine, but haven't seen a solution for the OS error. any light anyone could shed would be highly appreciated.
XP 64-bit, in any flavor, is unsupported. Install XP Pro 32-bit and you'll be good to go.
Michael.
will 64 bit be supported in v3.0? If they are prepping for hyper-threading, is it safe to assume 64 bit support would be included?
and thanks for your promt reply previously.
64-bit Vista is supposed to be supported in v3.0, not sure about XP 64-bit. Probably not.
Media Composer 3.0 is supposed to take advantage of multiple cores and the GPU better, but it's not a 64-bit app, so having 32GB of RAM won't help Avid.
I really hope that Avid includes XP Pro 64bit. Vista 64 bit is going to be a nightmare to find drivers for all the other applications (i.e. Photoshop CS3, Procoder3, you name it).
Besides, I absolutely loath Vista in any flavour and wait until it is more stable (SP2?) before I upgrade.
