    video quality setting and confidence

    Hi all,

Using adrenaline with/ Media Composer 2.8.1.  Two questions regarding Confidence mode

    1. Does the video quality setting affect confidence mode during capture?   In other words, with confidence mode enabled and showing incoming video in timeline monitor, will the video quality (and CPU/bandwidth) be affected by the video quailty setting (green/green, yellow/green, yellow/yellow)?

    2.  I seem to see irregularities with this confidence display (video display settings).  When I turn off confidnce mode with capture tool open, it turns off video display of incoming video to the timeline monitor while leaving the client monitor still show the incoming video EE through Adrenaline, which is what I expected.   however, after closing and reopening Capture Tool, no incoming video is shown in client monitor any longer until i re-enable Confidence display.   Is it supposed to work this way, by either displaying incoming video on BOTH timeline monitor and client monitor when enabled, or NEITHER when disabled?

thanks in advance for any replies!

Re: video quality setting and confidence

     1. No. Your capture quality is set by the resolution you choose, regardless of any other factors.

    2. Not sure on this issue, since I'm not in front of my Avid right now to experiment.

    Thanks for the reply.

I do know that the resolution in the capture mode affects the captured media format.    What I am specifically wondering is whether the incoming video that is displayed EE to the timeline monitor and client monitor (when Confidence enabled) is affected by the quality mode setting.   We had some data loss errors, and usually turning Confidence off helps because it is passing media realtime to the monitors.   I thought maybe the video dispaly quality would reduce the data flow in confidence mode.

OK, I'm tracking with you now. Yes, the image quality would be affected both at the client monitor and in the timeline monitor by cycling through green/green, yellow/green, and yellow. That would be perfectly normal behavior. I do not believe that the confidence mode should in any way interfere with the data flow, so I'm at a loss to understand where you data errors are occurring.
