    Color grading requests

Ability to play past clip boundaries

There may already be a way to do this but, when playing back a graded clip, I want to see the next few clips playback without having to leave color correction mode.

    Power Windows

I use Power Windows about 90% of the time when grading. Much more critical for me than secondaries. How about Power Windows with built in secondaries?

    More info in Grading Window

Could we get an info window similar to Photoshop. I need to be able to set anchors that give me values as I move parameters around.

    Luma Ranges

    1) Allow me to grab the whole curve and move it. It currently takes way too many clicks to move the curves around.

    2) Allow me to select any of the curves, without having to specify the button for Shadows, Mids or Highlights.

    Less mouse clicks please.

Hi Michael, I'm slightly confused as to some of what you're asking for here, but...

Ability to play past clip boundaries

You can, it's called the Edit Review button (which you can map to your keyboard) and allows you to watch the shot in situ whilst still in CC Mode

    Power Windows

Would be GREAT.  You can use various workarounds to get a similar result: Spot Correction; Colour Effect or Colour Correction Effects combined with Animatte.  But like I said - would be great if it was all embedded into the CC.

    More info in Grading Window

Not sure if this is what you mean, but if you click on either of the RGB boxes on the right, keep it held down and move to the image, the RGBs update.

    2) Allow me to select any of the curves, without having to specify the button for Shadows, Mids or Highlights.

You can do this now, just click on teh Curve.  Maybe I mis-understand this...

You can leave anchors on the image and as you move values, they report back what the numbers are. Currently, you have to try and move the mouse over the same area and note the values. Then make and adjustment, then  move your mouse over the area to get the updated values.

    2) Allow me to select any of the curves, without having to specify the button for Shadows, Mids or Highlights.

    Thanks for the info.

I'll second this request.  It might help to change the name of the request to:

Real Time RGB info Update  or something that clearly conveys the feature request.

As you said this feature works well in Photoshop and I think it works in Color FInesse as well.  If the RGB values updated as you tweaked the curves it would be a huge improvement in the work flow.

    Re: Color grading requests

O.k. I just had the chance to try Ra-eys suggestions.

This doesn't work the way it could. You have to choose the curve by the radio button. You cannot click on the curve directly to manipulate it if the appropriate radio button is not clicked. It breaks the flow when you have to move off the curves window to choose another option.

Ability to play past clip boundaries

You can, it's called the Edit Review button (which you can map to your keyboard) and allows you to watch the shot in situ whilst still in CC Mode

While this does work, it pre-rolls and plays into the clip then to the next. I want it to play through the clip into the next from the frame I'm parked on. I can drag through the clip to the next, but the playback isn't as smooth.

I know these may seem nitpicky, but when you're spending 10 to 20 hours in a grading session, its less aggravating when the tools work with you.

    Re: Color grading requests

    Michael,

I really must be completely mis-understanding you, sorry, but...

My work flow is this with Curves: Hit the Curve Tab, click on a Curve, a Point appears, I move the point - I never have to click on a radio button, ever.

As for the Edit Review limitation, you're spot on, it would be great it CC mode behaved just like a normal timeline.

    Re: Color grading requests

Sorry, my bad. We're talking two different sets of curves. I'm talking about "Luma Remapping". The curves there are the basis for all that follows in my grading sessions. They are manipulated point by point. Very tedious when you've got to move the whole curve.
