    FCP on Unity issues

Avid supports FCP on Unity. Let's embrace the "new" way of thinking - because the "old" way obviously stopped working... SO... TIA!

    Need a little help...

Newly installed setup... Trying to get an idea of what people's experiences are
with FCP on Unity in general, and also specifically on Unity 5.0.1.

Just wondering overall experiences with FCP on unity? and workflow?

I know you've got to keep the cache's off the Unity or you lose renders when
clicking out of the app... (FCP issue)... no proj sharing...

    Any other gotcha's?

    My issues so far:

    1) Got a client with 8-core MacPro's running FCP 6.0.1 with AJA HD I/O and OS
10.4.11 on one internal and MC 2.8 (no mojo) on the other... no other FW devices. (Do have
    a wacom though)

On the FCP drive been getting beach-balling with 720p/23.98 ProRes HQ. FCP is
not responding then Fibre Manager beach-balls and isn't responding. (the MC drive so
far seems fine - but they're not working it much yet)

Trying a lot of the normal Unity techniques and will post what I come up with a
    solution...

Loaded newer wacom driver and will pull it if problem persists. (system also has
atto scsi connected to DLT drive which I'll also pull if a problem... Atto UL5D in slot
    4... Celerity 41EL in slot 3)

    2) I've also had a Mac user issue where I get no error on mount via Fibre Manager
(as admin) but the WS doesn't mount on desktop. If I go into the Mac /volumes folder the ws
shows up there as a folder and NOT a server icon which is abnormal; but does not show
on the desktop. If I monitor the Mac Console during the mount process - I get this
    error:

    /sbin/mount_avidfs: User [0] isn't owner of mount point /Volumes/my_test_ws

create new mac user and it's fine so far... potentially all the prob's are
    related to this mac user?

Seen a similar issue with spaces in ws name or illegal characters... but these are named correctly...

    we'll see

    TIA,

    Joe

    Re: FCP on Unity issues

In responce to your second issue, the MAC user must not have any spaces in the name.  I have seen that recently.  Example, MAC User is "Avid_User."  No good!  It must be "aviduser."  No caps, no spaces.
