My name is Steve and I don't know anything about Macs. I used to, but I don't anymore. I know PC's now.
So, I bought a Mac to to learn that other non-linear editing software and I was thinking "Hey, my xpress studio is suppose to be cross platform- I'll install it on the Mac and see what happens."
I put the disk in (AVID XPRESS STUDIO 5.7 universal media) - and - nothing happens. I don't get an install screen. I can open the disk, but all I see are PC programs- and they won't install. I've looked at the install guide it says (PC) but the box gives both PC and MAC requirements.
And where's the Avid Xpress Studio-MAC forum (I'm guessing that's a clue).
Anyway, my machine is a dual processor G5 with OS 10.5. 2 Gig Ram (soon to be upgraded)
There is no Studio for the Mac. You can install the MC software and your dongle will work but the other components will not.

I'm guessing that with the end of Xpress Pro, the end has come as well. I'm very curious to see if Avid continues on with the Studio Toolkit add-on for Media Composer, or even makes a Media Composer Studio product.
Regardless, I've heard of several people I know successfully running Xpress Studio on a Mac Pro (Intel-based) with no problems. I'm NOT saying to try this or that you'll be successful, but if you have a Mac Pro, it's something you might consider if you feel brave.
Otherwise, stay tuned and see what Avid announces here hopefully today.
Take care.
I think my memory sucks, but I forget.
