I don't understand why I can not import simple avi movie files that I have saved on my drives, into avid media composer. I know that I could do it previously in other versions of Avid. Am I missing something? Please help! Converting these files into quicktimes is a nightmare as it takes a very long time, needs extra drive space etc....is there a simple solutlion to this?
Once again, if you don't give us your system specs, we can't help you.
Avid's import/export is based on Quicktime. AVI files are supported (although not ideal) and I don't believe you can import WMVs at all.
This is the way it has been forever.
Is this a new problem you are seeing?

Thank you for your help
If it is .flv it won't import whatever you do.
Probably the files aren't real avi's.
Download Media Info and find out what kind of files really are.
Also be sure that you are on 7.6.9 QT qhich is the right version for 5.5.2
