Hi there,
I am working on a show with 2 os9 meridian systems. We are hooked into a unity lanshare. Software version 11.2.6. Unity version 4.1.1. We have 12 workspaces. The tech has cleaned all the fiber connections, flashed the cards, and ran some tests claiming the unity is working fine.
The workspaces just unmount from the system by themselves, but never both systems at the same time. It's random too. The Avid does not crash.
Could the system names be the problem? One system is called xxx 3, and the other is xxx 4. There is a space in the names.
The maximum amount of files in a folder is around 1500. This wouldn't cause the workspaces to unmount would it?
Any ideas would be much appreciated, and any more info I can provide I will.

Spaces in the names might be an issue. Might as well change that to elimate that possibility. I think file limit was 10K per folder so 1500 shouldn't be a problem.
My money is on a bad fiber cable or bad fiber card in the loop somewhere. I just ran into a similar problem and it ended up being a bad connection on one of the fiber cards on the lanshare. Same thing, randomly dropping the workspaces offline. If there are empty connections on the lanshare end try swaping the cables to the unused ports
Hi Ravidedit,
Thank you for your response. Our tech guy said that he ran a test on his end and everything came back fine. (Is there a test that can check your fiber cards like that?) I think we just need to buy a new card and replace it.
I thought that each system was plugged into a separate fiber card on the lanshare. Actually we are plugged into the same dual card. This makes me think that it may be a bad card like you suggested. I will update you on how things are coming a long.
we just had to figure it out by trial and error. In that particular case I was talking about it wasn't even a bad card it was just one bad port on a card. If they can swap the card have them try that for the sake of troubleshooting. The lanshare should have at least one more dual port card you can try unless there are other systems attached already

I do not know about the firmware of the cards. The tech said everything on his end is fine. I removed the space from the computer names from xxx 3, and xxx 4 to xxx3 and xxx4. The system was working well for a couple days. Now the problem has returned but it is worse. Instead of the workspaces un-mounting to the systems at different times, it is happening to us at the same time. After trashing the database files, they all rebuild. Could there be a bad file? I think if it was a bad file either the database files would not rebuild, or there would be a particular clip that would cause this to happen and it would not be random.
