    AVID and OS Update

I have recently upgraded my Dual 1G G4 to OS 10.4.6 and updated to AVID 4.8.4. I did not realize that itunes won't work with OS 10.4.6. Will AVID 4.8.4 run properly if I update to OS 10.4.11?

No.  In fact, even the OS you upgraded to is not supported with your version of Avid.  Have you looked at the ReadMe file that accompanied your software?  Here's a complete matrix of supported Avid versions, OS's, and QT's.

Actually 4.8.6 is fine. It was the last OS qualified for 4.8.4. IF you upgrade past that, you will break the dongle drivers.

Okay, thanks for the info. So, is this the maximum OS and Xpress Pro versions I can run on the Dual 1G G4?

Well, I think 5.7.x was  the minimum supported on that machine but that doesn't mean x.8 won't run. The sticking point with the G4s is the GFX card and the Ram (Requirements went way up as of the x.5 releases). If you upgrade those too, you may be able to run higher version of the software

I was referring to the current Matrix ... which shows 10.4.3 as applicable to 4.8.2 through 4.8.4.  Support for 10.4.6 didn't start until 5.5 ... at least according to the Matrix.

Yep, Jeff is a little confused. 4.8.4 added support for 10.4.6 and 5.5.x added support for 10.4.7 and beyond.
