Why are UK customers paying significantly more for MC upgrade

    UK pricing is

£294 ($583.22 exchange rate from xe.com) for download with no third party software

    but

£365 ($724.09) for physical pack with 3rd party software

    US pricing is

$495 for physical pack upgrade with 3rd party software

So UK customers must pay an extra $229.09 for the same software

    ??

'cause we are still really cheesed off about that whole Colonial thing Pieman....Smile

Seriously, Marianna addressed this in a few different posts on the PC side. I believe the prices on the site include VAT. Are you accounting for that?

I thought we might get  a better deal, than say the french, due to our "special relationship"?! Stick out tongue

Could be the VAT I guess. Does the US price not include any US sales tax a business can claim back then?

    regards

    Nope, it's added after purchase.

VAT on $495 would be < $100. Still leaves over $100 difference.

Get used to it though, it's the same with just about everything else (often much greater differential).

Yeah, it does come out to be more than we pay in Dollars but, there are different concerns when you ship a product over to Europe.

However, Avid contacted me today and said that Finance is re-evaluating the price difference and hopes to have some good news for you guys soon. You think support is slow? Try Finance.

Re: Why are UK customers paying significantly more for MC upgrade

It´s not only a problem of the UK - in the German store the upgrade price is €536.

If I do the math here: $495/ 1,57 =  €315,29 * 19% (VAT) = €375,19. There is a price difference of €160,81 or $252,47 and I really don´t understand why american companies still charge €/$ ratio with 1:1 (or lower). It´s not only a problem with Avid - Adobe, Apple and many others are doing it the same strange way.

The only company I know of doing it the right way is soundsonline.com. They founded a european field office and ship their products from inside europe with charging the actual €/$ rate. Avid have field offices in Germany too so why can´t they do it the same way ?

However, if the next update of the MC arrives and nothing hase changed ragarding pricing for europe I will order it directly in the US (B&H). Even with the high shipping cost they charge + VAT it is over €100 cheaper than buying it directly in the Avid onlinestore.

    Best regards

'Why are UK customers paying significantly more for MC upgrade'

Because we earn more editing in the UK?

My main complaint is with Adobe now they really do rip off UK customers.
