I have a mobile edit system that comprises of a Macbook pro, Sony DVCAM DSR40P and a Sony Digi Beta J3.
All used to work lovely I could capture digibeta from the J3 through the DSR40P(this converted it to DV) and could edit easily.
Since about 4.6.5 I have to have a tape in the DSR40 in record to be able to capture now which makes the whole lot flakey and wears the heads out on my DVCAM deck.
I managed to pick up a secondhand mojo.
So now I need a esata expresscard34 for external drive support.
I expect I may also need a black and burst box too?
What are people's experience of using the mojo with two decks (dsr40 and J3) without reference?
Is a black and burst really needed since the DSR40 is on firewire out of the mojo?
regards
BTW because of this bug/feature loss from avid I am looking at having to spend approx $2000 to get my system up and running again. We were promised a fix but Hell will freeze over before that and I shall be up for retirement! Thx Avid.
You should not need a BB gen just to run your decks. If you were to loop out of those decks to another device, like a monitor, then you might but, if you use the outputs of the Mojo for monitoring, it provides its own sync.
