FCP does it, Avid should do it. I'm tired of the various arcane tangoes required to mix framerates. If you have to render at the end, no problem.
This is THE #1 feature everyone I work with, myself included, wants from Avid.
Just curious.... which framerates are you wanting to mix?
You can already mix 25/50 and 29.97/59.94

How can you do that? I've tried numerous times to captue PAL material to an NTSC project and the other way around and it never seems to fail. I've also tried capturing 25p to 25i projects and 25i to 25p. Not working.
Yeah, I know that. Primarily it's working old 30i b-roll from archival sources like BetaSP into 23.976 HD projects. We shoot 24P HD on P2 cameras for some programs, so you're stuck working in 24P in the Avid unless you feel like sticking everything on tape first (thus negating any advantage to going tapeless in the first place).
There are various hacks and workarounds, some involving tape or Fluid Motion and Quicktime exports or other various dances, but I want it to just work. If FCP can manage it, no reason I can't see Avid doing it.

Right, it's not supported... hence the request from the original poster.
Then I guess I misunderstood and Avid is indeed an oudated NLE.
