Hi There!
I´m here with my brand new Macbook (2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 gb of memory) and my new Xpress Pro License Academic 5.7. with Mac OS X 10.5.2.
When i´m doing the install process some errors appears on the screen
1) System/Library/extensions/sentinel.kext
2) System/Library/extensions/digilO.kext
3) Run postflight script for Avid Codecs LE
What can I do?
THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE!!!!!
1. Can't install on Leopard
2. To even try you would need 'Pro 5.8.

HI, first of all thanks for the speed!
So I can´t install 5.7 on Leopard?
I have an academic version, can I update to 5.8 in order to run it on Leopard?
Thanks again
Again, no version of the software is qualified to run on Leopard. You will have issues installing any version.
Yes, you can upgrade to 5.8 and give it a go but there is no way for us to help you if things go pear shaped.
Ok, Tkanks
But when Avid is going to release a version running on Leopard?
We´re afraid about the close ending of Xpress Pro with no new updates.
Xpress 'Pro will not be updated to run on Leopard. The only Avid product that will be released for Leopard is Media Composer.
quoted from avid.com:
"OS Compatibility
Avid Xpress Pro v5.8 now supports Mac OSX v.10.4.11. Mac OSX Leopard and Microsoft Vista support is planned for a future release."
OK, I´ve bought a mac... i´ve bought an Avid license, so you´re now telling me that my best option is to eat my license.
Really, I don´t understand Avid
Are you guys really working for FCP?
however thanks for the info
If you are serious about editing, either with Avid or FCP or Adobe, do NOT just go out and buy any computer and run any OS with any software on it. These things are completely interdependent.
Yeah, I get that but Avid kinda changed the game this week when they announced the end of the 'Pro product.
Now, the good news? Since you just bought 'Pro, you are eligible for an upgrade to MC. Check with whomever you purchased the software to see how you trade that in for MC.
And one other thing: MacBooks are not qualified to run Avid (or FCP). The integrated Intel graphics chip is lacking sufficient "oomph" to be used in a editing application.
Must think of something clever to go here...
Hello ,
I did receive the exact same error msg about sentinel.kext and digio.kext while the installation.
im also running on leopard 10.5.5
but I have Avid Media Composer 3.0
my computer spec : 2x3 Ghz quad, 8GB ram, Nvidia 8800GT 512MB
could you explain me what should i do to get trought this ?
3.0 was not qualified for 10.5.5. Download 3.0.5 from the avid download center and install that instead. It's a free upgrade.
thx. for ur answer
i did download the free upgrade 3.0.5.
i installed it. everything seem to worked well. installation was succesful. i restart everything
when I now click on MC it starts bouncing then rapidly stops, indeed, without opening
i tried to uninstall everything and start all over
same result
what should i now do ?
And is this a Macbook or Macbook Pro? Is it the new MBPs? What version of QT?
