Now while searching my way through this Quicktime problem I'm currently having, all the Google links to relevant articles are dead.
I have to use Google Cache to read the postings.
Any reason to not use the site search for the forums? Were you not getting the results you should, or any other issue?
Also, we should have redirect mappings in place very shortly.

In fairness I am working with my local VAR on a solution to a recent Quicktime problem, but it's got all of us stumped (see other posting by me, earlier) ... however I often get a wider range of results with a google search vs. local on the Avid site.
I'm glad the redirects are a priority. It would be a shame to toss all the google links back to Avid.
So, compound the fact that I'm dead in the water with Quicktime exports at the moment after upgrading to 1.8, but my searches for results via my normal method have left me with dead ends.
I was just about to update to 1.8 you have saved me a lot of trouble what exactly is the QuickTime issue ?
I hate television. I hate it as much as I hate peanuts. But I can't stop eating peanuts.

OK, looks like we've got the URL remappings working so that any old forum URL should now pass you along to that post in it's new URL location.
Let me know if you see otherwise.
Blue Crow: I was just about to update to 1.8 you have saved me a lot of trouble what exactly is the QuickTime issue ?
Well, not so fast on writing the upgrade off. In fact, the documented memory leak with 1.6 or .7 or whatever I WAS using is totally fixed in this release. A job that was tolerable is now smooth and fast so that's a good thing for sure.
There have been some shenanigans with Apple lately and their 'automatic upgrades' which I've been trying to turn off, but the latest with trying to get Windows iTunes users to download a fresh copy of Safari for Windows is pretty sneaky. And, compound that with the fact that I can't even downgrade my Quicktime player to get it to work (I've stopped at 7.1 but will try 6 next week) tells me it's not the Avid but Quicktime.
Still, I'm dead exporting Quicktimes and dead trying to view Avid codec .mov files until I resolve this.
So, with that really deadly memory leak fixed I'd go for the 1.8, especially since no one else seems to be having this problem with Quicktime. I think I suffered from a few too many Avid updates/restarts in the midst of a sneaky Apple update.
Thank you well done.
Now if anyone can help me totally and completely reinstall Quicktime that would be great.
Also I'm not able to find an installer on any of my install disks with the "PE" codecs for Quicktime. Can anyone tell me what disk and folder on the disk these codecs are hiding?
