Okay, up until now Avid had a good reason to control all forms of its media. Hey, the media is the magic, right?
The other day we had a need to be able to post all the media to our megaserver, and enable someone to be able to edit outside of our unity environment with the same media.
Avid can't even see or mount the network drive.
Look, we have gigabit ether. there's no longer a reason to be so tight fisted.
Allow the connectivity, with the warning that Avid cannot be responsible for lag times, or stuttering if someone's network is too slow.
My point of this post and my last is to encourage avid to have a more open platform so people can choose what pieces they want to use.
I edit off of networked drives (over Gigabit) now. I believe the command is "all drives" in the console.
The console command is
AllDrives 1
to allow use of networked drives and
AllDrives 2
to make drives act normally (default)

Well then!! Thanks to Avid! and Thanks to you!!
Anyone know if there's a way to make Media Composer 'remember' this setting?
