XDCAM output no timecode Media composer.

    Hi,

when I export an Mpeg50 25i XDCAM project back to my PDMW-530 cam in Media composer everything works fine, only the timecode does not write back (checked the enabeld tracks and everything). Is this normal or is it possible to write back the timecode?

    Thanx

Timecode writeback does not function in the current software release. Check the README.

What happens if you put in a fresh formatted disk and export a file that has your sequence timecode set the same as the default Camera TC start time (00:00:00:00 or 01:00:00:00etc)?  I would have thought that would give you the same TC on the disk.  If so set your timeline with bars tone slate etc and a decent amount of black at the tail and master away.

Thanks for the continued dongle support

I have had the same trouble. It seems impossible to get original timecode from sequence. If the deck is set to external preset timecode then you get nothing.

However you can get Timecode on the clip. After many tests this seems to work consistently. All steps are important to follow.

This works on the PDW-V1 and PDW-R1

    1.    Set Time code on deck to internal regen. (menu)

    2.    Set T/C/VITC button to T/C. (front of deck)

    3.    power cycle deck to reset internal timecode to 00:00:00:00 so your clip starts here.
(Unless of course you have a flash deck that can set T/C to what you want.)

    4.    Use clean formatted disk

    5.    Connect deck in FAM mode to system

    6.    output clip through - export to device - xdcam. D

    7.    you will get new timecode on clip starting at 00:00:00:00

    Good luck and have fun.
