    Connecting video camera via USB

My Samsung SCL770 video camera came with a USB cable for PC hookup (I don't have firewire).  It works just fine, but I can't seem to get Avid to look at the USB as a deck.  I have video that I need to ingest.  Can anybody help me get this to work?

Avid can't capture from USB, only firewire.  If the deck doesn't have firewire you'll need to get an analog/digtial converter like a Canopus box so you can send composite or s video and convert to firewire

In cases where a device only has a USB connection (ie still or video camera) you should be able to see the camera as a "drive".  Then open it up and pull files off it.  My new AVC-HD camera does that.

Worth trying, but free dv only imports .avi .mov .jpeg and a few audio formats. You will probably need to grab the files with another programme and convert them- prefereably to quicktime- and the fast import for quicktime works well on qt dv files- worth trying the avid dv codec.
