    MULTICAM 15:1s or 10:1m?

I'm using media composer 12.1 on a Mac OS X system for the offline edit and plan to do the online on a symphony...

A lot of the footage is multicamera and will have to be grouped. Just wondering if there are any advantages of digitizing at 15:1s instead of 10:1m (besides it taking less space)?

With 10:1m I can play all the source cams of a grouped clip at once, but I can't with 15:1s grouped clips, right?

Should I just digitize at 10:1m? Or are there limitations I'm not aware of? Please help!

    Hmm [^o)] Re: MULTICAM 15:1s or 10:1m?

If you check the old forum this subject has been addressed.  In order to achieve

realtime multicam you must capture at M resolution, either 10.1m or 4.1m

you can capture in S resolution and group the clips but only the active panel will

stream.  Once you've rough cut your sequence you then decompose those clips in

a group edit and rebatch for finishing.

for multicam editing you have to choose m-resolutions... thats what they are created for

    Correct

Only limitation I see is if you wanted the media to edit on XPRO at home or on the road.  XPRO only supported offline resolution is 15:1s.

    good luck. Geeked [8-|]

this is not an xpress pro forum.  Post your inquiry appropriately.

Actually it is appropriate 'vegas. Many of us who cut on MC's during the day find ourselves transfering media to our 'Pro systems to cut offsite. So, therefore, concerns about compatible resolutions are valid here.

Big Smile [:D] Thanks Frank the Tank,  Super Angry [8o|] Blkdog, the answers given for MC Meridien

are not necessarily (and frequently are not) universally transferable.

No they aren't 'vegas but this statement about the ability to transfer  between systems is very relevent.

    That's all I'm sayin'.
