Unchecked in Avid Assets in Interplay Access

I am trying to understand the Unchecked in Avid Assets concept.  I see many items in the folder (mainly rendered effects) but I also see them in the project folder.  The path for both is on shared storage.  The documentation implies I should drag the items from the unchecked in folder to a project folder.  Interplay then moves the asset link from the unchecked in folder to the designated folder.  This seems redundant to me.

    I need some help understanding.

    Thanks in advance.

Basically there are some rendered effects which you use while editing but dont checkin goes into unchecked in folder.

Lets say you hit a 8 frame dissolve on the timeline and the precompute is saved to the MC bin. Later, on the same edit, within the same bin you change the dissolve from 8 to 10 frames....under these circumstances the 8 frame rendered dissolve goes to unchecked in assests folder....same happens with any other masterclips...

I guess you gotta clean up regularly. Somebody could correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Unchecked in Avid Assets in Interplay Access

Before you check in your bins to Interplay, the material you create or ingest resides here. As soon as you check in your bin, the UnChecked-In Avid Assets folder should empty out. You should not have to manually move items from there to your Project folder.

Thanks for the reply.  This is how I would expect it to work.  I will do some more checking to make sure items are checked in properly.

That would explain why the vast majority of the items out there are rendered effects.  Perhaps the editors don't check them in for some reason.

As a part of our clean up process after each project, we delete rendered effects.  I guess that will take care of it automatically.

    Thanks for your reply.

Which version of interplay are we speaking about? We have version 1.0 and this does not happen automatically.

Please let me know so that I could consult the local avid representative.

    Thanks

I should have mentioned our version.  Sorry.  We are on 1.1.0.5645.
