It usually means you have a bad clip/effect in the timeline. Use the "Play-in-to-out" button on increasingly smaller portions of the timeline until you can narrow down which clip is causing the error. Then remove it.

Thanks a bunch.  It was a corrupt sound effect.

what happens when all in / outs give you the same error?  it seems to be when I play anything over track one.

Lift everything out of Track one. Does it play now? If so, something on that track is causing this. If not, then there could be something deeper.

It's been a long while, but when we would take an offline sequence from an Xpress into our old Mac Symphony we would get PlayPipe errors all the time.
They were always caused by one of two things:
    1) There was something offline in the sequence.  It didn't matter if it was a clip, title or gfx.  Once everything was online, the error went away.
    2) A corrupt motion effect.  Once you track down the effect, 'promoting' it usually fixed it for us, and on occasion, remaking it.
Haven't seen it for a while though.

I found an audio transition that I had stretched using the "smart tool" causing the issue. Smart tool allowed me to stretch the transition past beginning of the actually song.
