I have the same issue with 5.7.2 on a non-qualified computer, however there are some interesting experiences that can help to solve the problem.
Analogue source -> DSR-11 -> XP 5.7.2 = No audio at all (no signal on the meter)
Analogue source -> DSR-11 -> other non-qualified system with XP 5.1.7 = working fine, audio is captured
Analogue source -> Canopus ADVC110 -> XP 5.7.2 = working fine, audio is captured
(of course the other system also works with the advc110)
I hope this may help
Using an approved Dell 390 with a DSR-11 I had the same problem. Installing a Sound Blaster Audigy fixed it for me. The sound is back.
Chris
but way Avid don't fix this bug as i have a approved system Xw8200 and i don't what to buy a new sound card only because Avid don't want to fix this Bug.
So Avid Support when will this bug be fixed ?????
I have waited for a long time now and still there is no fix for that in the horizon.
can i get an answer as in what release this will be fixed and the date of this release ????
Sorry Daryl,
This is a user to user board. The best we can do is support each other to make our systems work. Marianna has suggested earlier in this thread to email her directly if you have this problem. Have you tried that yet?
Hi Chris
I know that in this forum user help each other still Avid support monitor this forum and as you have told me they also write uploads as for bug fixso this is the right place to post this message, as the users can help and also you can get a formal answer from Avid support.
As for what you have ask , no i didn't email Marianna yet as i have waited to a release that will fix this problem and this is way i didn't purchase yet the upgrade to 5.7.2 i now work with 5.5 as this is the only version that work fine for me.
and i want to move to 5.7.2 and this bug is the only thing that stop me from upgrade and if you will go back in this discussion you will see that Avid told me that this will be fixed in the next release or one after now we are after 2 release from that time and still there is no fix this is way i am angry.
in any case thanks for your help.
Yours
Tamir
Which is why Marianna asked for specs information to help Avid resolve the problem. She does work for Avid and that is the avenue to use if you want a true solution and not a work around. Take the time to get all of your system specs together, email her the information, and give the company a chance to find a solution. Or just buy a Sound Blaster Audigy to fix it for now.
I didn't give the system specs because none of the two computers is qualified to run Avid. That's why I didn't complain about this bug at all - I use the workarounds and wait for it to be fixed. (I use sound blaster in the first - 5.7.2, not capturing - computer and the integrated sound card in the 2nd - 5.1.7, capturing - one, so adding an audigy is not a "workaround" for every situation.)
I only wanted to show the differencies that make a system work while another fails. There must be a difference in the way that decks and transcoders use the firewire channel and there is also a difference between the older and the recent versions of avid. If someone knows the details of these differencies and "comb" them together maybe it finally gives a solution. I hope so.
Marianna don't need my specs as this bug happed in all of Avid approved systems and this is way I have purchase 2 of them so that in case of bug they will not be able to tell me sorry but you don't have an approved systems and this is way we can't help you.
so for that I have purchase an Hp Xw8200 dual cpu of 3.8Mhz with 4 gig of ram 2 Sata disk of 500Gb, and NVIDIA approved 1400 , as this system are the approved one.to this is have a DSR-11 that are connected by FW and I also use it as my converter from analog to digital for Hi8 and VHS tape that I need to get in to the system and also as a converter to see an video on an external monitor.
Also can you say what is the model of your Audigy sound card as Creative has a few model by the name Audigy and if I will buy one I need to know which to buy so that it will work.
So if you can send me a link to the model that you have purchase it will be wonderful. As it looks to me that if I will wait for Avid to fix it I will wait forever
Chris ,
Can you answer my question as what model of Audigy sound card did you purchase
Sorry daryl5,
I meant to post this and forgot. Sound Blaster® Audigy® SE, their part number is 70SB057000000. Suggested retail is $29.95. I got mine on sale at Staples for $19.95.
Hope this helps,

Krishius:That means I'll have to buy newest version? I'm not willing (to do) that..
Wait a second. Are you telling me that after years of frustration, all I need to do to solve this problem is buy a flippin 20 buck audio card?
I'm currently using a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi. A lower and less expensive Creative SB card will fix this?
