    Hello,

the Realtek HD card was not supported until v5.1.6 of Xpress Pro. You will need to upgrade to the HD version or purchase a "Sounblaster Audigy 2" card.

Crying [:'(] Can't find any audio cards in your system!

Hey guys.. I use Avid Xpress Pro HD.
And when i start it, it says "Can't find any audio cards in your system!"
so when i capture.. i can't even replay anything because there is no audio... but i have an audio card.
my audio card is a "Realtek High Definition Audio". Isn't that audio problem fixed in Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.2?

    please help.. thank you
Thank you very much for your support guys!

yes it should be fixed in 5.2 .. you'd better go 5.2.1 though. Make sure you have the appropiate drivers installed for the card. We use the Relatek HD card on several laptops with 5.2.1 no problem.. so there must be some problem on a deeper level.

Crying [:'(] AW: Re: Can't find any audio cards in your system!

Okay, I installed 5.2.1, but it still does not work. It says, that there is no audio card which is supported by Avid, whereas I use the "Realtek High Definition" audio card.

Isn't there any other possibilities to change something or to install or let Avid recognize my audio card in the avid programm? can't i install it in avid? or something like that..?
I use a notebook, that is the reason why i can't change my audio card...

but when i go to my project window and then to the settings lap and then to audio project, i click on hardware, and it says "NULL Audio Device & 1394 Audio". Can't I change that?

    thank you for your help

    Initialising Audio

Had Xpress Pro HD 5.1.5 but on initialising audio received messege saying:   !Exception: ADM_DSOUND_MIXER_OPEN_ERROR, was told by third party my sound card (Microsoft UAA Function Driver for High Definition Audio - Realtek 880), was not right and that Avid had fixed this compatibility problem for version 5.1.6. . So I got Avid Xpress Pro HD version 5.2.1 and then on initialising audio for this version was told no audio cards could be found in my system.

I can use Avid with no Audio, but this is not an option for me as I need sound for my project.  Any sugesstions, please????

    Massive thanx, JJx

I gave up trying to get my on-board Realtek audio to work with Xpress Pro months ago and bought an Audigy 2 ZS.

Re: AW: Re: problems with Xpress Pro and Realtek High Definition

ladireccion, You need to disable the on board sound and get a sound card. I know zilch about laptops so I don't know if that's possible. Or upgrade to the latest version and see if that works.

There are USB audio hardware solutions. I don't know how well they work with Xpress Pro. Part of the problem is Xpress Pro doesn't "officially" support any audio hardware, so people who want to purchase audio hardware can't even go to a list of supported hardware and pick something that works.

Sad [:(] AW: Re: AW: Re: problems with Xpress Pro and Realtek High Definition

so what can i do then?!

I cannot buy another audio card! i have a notebook! and avid producers said that the probem is fixed in 5.2.1

    and i use avid 5.2.1

isn't somewhere a professional avid supporter who knows how to fix that problem without buying any new stuff or without opening my notebook. that is not possible! avid said that that problem is fixed.. and i doubt it that avid lies...
