The waveform redraw is a bug... expect it to be fixed in the near future. As for the timeline font... something got screwed up in the 2.5.x release, but you can rectify it. Click on the timeline, go to the edit menu and select 'Set Font'. Change it to something you like better. I use geneva, 9.
