One of the new Chrome-HD users asked how to setup variant compressions for the I-MPEG 2 codec. To better explain this here is one of the new tricks in Chrome-HD (6.1) which will be of interest to all users: ================================================TOPIC: DEFINING LIQUID CHROME-HD CODEC PRESETSPROBLEM: 1) MISSING DIGITISE CODECS2) ADDING RENDER/FUSE CODEC PRESETS3) ADD MISSING COMPRESSION CODECS FOR I-MPEG2INTRODUCTION: Liquid 6.1 employees a number of codecs to create media for digitising, fusing and rendering for timelines.WHY SOME CODECS NEED TO BE DEFINED IN LIQUID 6.1:In order to avoid unwanted clutter many codecs have been intentionally removed from the list of capture and render codecs and simply require the user to re-create them manually. This only needs to be done once so they can be re-used at any time thereafter.RESOLUTION SETUP PROCEDURES: Here is an example of setting up an I-MPEG2 15Mbit Codec Preset:1. Go to [Edit][Control Panel][Sites][Codec]2. Select I-MPEG-2 422P@ML (M2V)* 3. Click on the [+] sign and name the New Preset to the new codec name e.g. ‘I-MPEG 2 15Mbit’4. Click on the ‘tick’ mark5. Press the Codec [Edit] button6. Select Bitrate=15MBits/s and tick7. for Fileformat=M2VOnce the above procedures have been completed the newly created Codec Preset will appear in the in the list of Media Formats in the Liquid Logging Tool, in Timeline Properties and in the New Sequences dialog.NOTE: Any codec presets with a ‘*’ cannot be deleted from the codec list. Only those codec presets created by the user can be deleted.
