    wanted: simple EDL workflow/tutorial

I tried a lot of things but still can't find my way out of a situation where an updated group causes a sequence to be essentially no longer editable (http://community.avid.com/forums/p/196284/878538.aspx#878538)

to avoid starting from a fresh sequence (hours of work lost), exporting the offending sequence as EDL then importing in a new sequence is perhaps the best thing to do, but I've never used EDL.

    • Will EDL help me in recreating a new sequence from a fresh, updated group clip, and keep the edits done so far ?
    • For this simple MC->MC roundtrip, what EDL format (& options) should I use ?
    • Is there any tutorial for this simple workflow ?

    Re: wanted: simple EDL workflow/tutorial

I tried creating a EDL with all defaults in the List tool (a.o. File_129 as format); I loaded the sequence I need, and selected the V and A ttracks of interest.; when I clicked Preview, I got a handful of "Assertion failed", but pressing 'Continue' each time, I managed to finish the process with a few warnings; I then saved the list.

I then did 'Import EDL' and got a sequence looking like like the one I need, except that all media is offline (T/L red from start to finish); I Decomposed the new sequence, no change. I could not relink to anything.

Obviously, either I need to change some options (help !!!), or the EDL route is NOT my saviour for my group clip problem.

    Any other suggestion ?
