Re: Windows 10 1809 Feature Update - Not supported at this time

    Dear Marianna,

sorry to ask this again but is win10 1809 now fully qualified by avid, for example for Avid MC 2018.10? Because the KB articles still say "dont upgrade to 1809..."

Just asking, because in a few days we are upgrading our company machines (HPz840) from Win7 to win10 and we want to get it right from the beginning :-) If 1809 is still unsuported, we will try to stick to 1803.

Thank you very much and happy new year,

    Felix

Re: Windows 10 1809 Feature Update - Not supported at this time

Long... I need to change that article.

1809 was pulled back and was only released a certain way by Msoft.

Here is the latest from Microsoft.  Auto update did not have to be disabled since Microsoft pulled the 1809 update back in October and has not enabled the rollout to 1809 to all systems at this time.

Current status of Windows, version 1809, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server, version 1809

Rollout Status as of December 17, 2018: Windows 10, version 1809, is now fully available for advanced users who manually select “Check for updates” via Windows Update.

    I will update the KB.

    Dear Marianna,

thank you very much for your answer. So 1809 is also qualified for the MC 2018.10 version or just for the newest 2018.12?

Although microsoft doesn´t roll out 1809 for everybody throught update, it seems to me that when you want to use the official mediacreationTool from their website, you can only create a 1809 installer. There is no way to use the tool to create a new 1803 installer or at least I couldn´t find one anymore.

    Thank you,

    best

    Felix

There are update "blocks" in place for certain software environments. This page lists the exceptions.

Microsoft and Morphisec have identified an issue on devices that have installed Morphisec Protector or another application that uses the Morphisec Software Development Kit (SDK) including: Cisco AMP for Endpoints. These applications may impact customers’ ability to use the ‘Save As…’ dialog when saving documents in Microsoft Office applications. Saving of files is not impacted. (32-bit versions only) Resolved: Morphisec and Cisco have released updated versions of their applications to address this issue. We recommend customers update to these minimum versions before attempting to attempting to upgrade to Windows 10, version 1809:Morphisec Protector version 2.4.8 (For more information see the Moriphisec Cyber Security blog)Cisco AMP for Endpoints version 6.2.3.10814 (For more information see the Cisco Security support page)

Microsoft has identified issues with certain new Intel display drivers. Intel inadvertently released versions of its display driver (versions 24.20.100.6344, 24.20.100.6345) to OEMs that accidentally turned on unsupported features in Windows. After updating to Windows 10, version 1809, audio playback from a monitor or television connected to a PC via HDMI, USB-C, or a DisplayPort may not function correctly on devices with these drivers.Workaround: To see if your device is affected and, if so, resolve the issue, see this Windows Forum post

    Dear Owen,

It seems to me that 1809 still isn´t supported by avid, because the KB-article

    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Compatibility/Win-10-1089-Feature-Update

got updated on  11.01.2019 and still it says "not supported".

So we decided to use the 1803 version of windows 10 pro for our new installations and at the moment, we are quite happy with version 2018.12 on those machines. So I would recommend you not to use win 10 1809 right now.

    Best,

    Felix
