Re: Media Composer 2018.9 - launched today 9/14/18

    Hi,

I am having a similar problem with Open I/O. Since upgrading to MC 2018.9 and running my Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini Monitor with the most recent driver I have huge CPU loads and synch drift kicking in after about 10 minutes of continuous playback, the video begins to stutter and finally goes drastically off-synch. Very embarassing while making screenings with the producer.

This wasn't the case in the previous version of MC. I am considering an AJA IO 4k but after hearing here that some of the users have problems with AJA devices as well I wonder how I should proceed. Was running MC 2018.5 before and didn't have the problem. I also wonder how to roll back to this version as I had it downloaded via Application Manager.

    Best,

    Michael

Older versions are available at the download center. (When logged in to your Avid-account.)

The older 2018.x versions are at the bottom of the list.

Not sure if necessary but I would rather manually uninstall 2018.9 (AppMan and Media Composer) before you re-install 2018.5

    Thanks!

Will do a clean install of the earlier version after all this.

Will report back if it fixed the issue.

Michael...  it seems that both have an issue with the 2018.8 and 2018.9 versions.  We expect a fix in the next release and AJA already has their fixes waiting on us as they are dependant on ours.  BMD - I can check it but I believe they are aware and working on that as well.

    Thanks, Marianna!

I rolled back to MC 2018.5 and can confirm that it runs fine with BMD Ultrastudio Mini Monitor. No synch issues, no video lagging, generally much more responsive while editing, even faster in desktop mode. I‘m hesitant to upgrade to 2018.7.1 because I suspect the live timeline feature has troubles with open I/O.
