    i would suggest going a different path.

    Open a SD project and open the SD footage there.  If your HD footage is progressive then change that project to interlace. Open the bin from your SD project with your SD footage from the  HD interlace project. Scale as required (3D Warp).

    IMO Progessive playback looks good during interlace project playback so get the best output for both formats by staying interlaced.   

    My prefered option is to use Resolve to capture (open) the SD footage and then Optical scaling there to upres to HD.  Maybe try the Resolve deinterlace option as well.  Deliver the resultant footage via Resolves "to Avid" deliver option.  i am not sure if optical scaling is available in the free version of Resolve.
