USB sound card that works with MC?

Hi, need to build a voice over station with a laptop, and wonder what usb sound card I should buy.

We want to use MC when we do this. (capture or punch in)

Re: USB sound card that works with MC?

MC will use any sound card available, as far as it is properly configured in Windows, and provided that no Avid or third party I/O is on, as far as I remember it will use the default device as selected in the Windows Sound control panel. The laptop's built in audio hardware can be used, with no need for a USB sound card. I use a USB microphone for scratch voice overs, which is seen by Windows as an audio card, but, FWIW, I've never been able to monitor the recording, not in MC, nor in Audacity or the Windows buit in recording app, while monitoring is possible when connecting a mic to hardware I/O. Never took the time to trubleshoot this, and clients tend to record scratch audio on their mobile phones and send it to me by email, to be later replaced by proper voice over recorded in an audio facility, but I guess You do not talk about scratch here.

Hi Luca, you're perhaps looking for this:

Settings -> Sound -> Input Device/Device properties -> 'Listen' tab -> check 'Listen to this device'

Thank You for posting, if I do check that option I always listen to the mic, even when not recording, but I may enable this when the need be!

Yep ! The built-in audio mixer in Windows is very feature-limited Wink
