Avid turning my clips blue in media composer 2018.7

Im not too sure what is actually happening. All my clips now have a negative or reversed colour effect.

I'm not too sure where to start looking and what setting is affecting the colour.

The thumbnail files imported into the Bin look fine. But putting them into the timeline or source monitor are not the proper encoded colour.

Any ideas would be great thank you.

Re: Avid turning my clips blue in media composer 2018.7

this is a known issue dating back from the previous update.

affecting non quadro cards, like gtx 1070 or 1080.

in the video display settings, unmark dual copy engine.

    that should do the trick.

Thank you for response. It did fix the issue. So everything is back to normal. Owe you a beer!

I haven't updated since MC 2018.2 and went straight to MC 2018.7. So I didn't get that memo.

I'm having the same issue, indeed a GTX 1080 Ti. Disabling dual copy engine gets everything back to normal when playback is paused, but during playback everything becomes blue again...

Any other solutions, apart from reverting to 2018.4? Was kinda happy with the live timeline.

Walter, I have the same issue as you, which makes the "fix" not a fix at all.  I have had to skip 2 updates now due to this crippling bug. Would love to try out the live timeline, but since MC is fairly broken right now, we'll both have to wait, unfortunately.  To be fair, this is the first time in years I've had to skip updates as a result of bugs. But this one is pretty bad. As noted before, colors are kind of important for video editors.

For me this issue seems to be fixed in 2018.8 (dual copy engine still disabled). Unfortunately, 2018.8 has other bugs that make it unusable (can't open some bins from existing projects anymore), so once again I'm back to 2018.4. Maybe next month :)

    Hey Mike

Can you email me direct with some of the MC broken stuff you know about off the top of your head.  Important before I ruffle the feathers internally.

Re: Avid turning my clips blue in media composer 2018.7

So I just installed 18.8, and my video is still exactly as blue as it's been since 18.5.  No fix.  Still as broken as ever.  When not playing, the video looks fine as a still in the Source/Record monitors.  When I hit play, it's Smurf-o-rific.  So, it looks like there's still some work to do.  I specifically bought a Nvidia card when Avid went from the white-list to the black-list for video cards, so I should be OK with the card I have.  But, for now, it's still broken.  Any help would be great.

But the claim that this bug has been fixed is not accurate.

EDIT - trying latest Nvidia driver to see if that helps. Ug.

EDIT 2 - So, if I'm editing HD, it looks like things are OK - colors not blue.  When I try to edit in 4K, the blue is back.  For now, this is good enough for me to not roll-back to 18.4.  But it's not ideal.  Hopefully a true fix will come soon for 4K too. Although frustrated, I do want to express thanks for the fixes so far.

Re: Avid turning my clips blue in media composer 2018.7

Thank you for the update Touviere7.

Has it actually been fixed by Avid. I can't find anything about the problem in the read-me notes on MC2018.9.

I only updated it to 2018.8 the other day and the problem was still apparent.
