Runtime error while rendering a timeline

I have started getting this error, which kills MC, while rendering a timeline. it seems to always happen on effect 41 of 63 (although I don't know which effect that is). Mostly it is rendering colour correction and LUTs. Three times in a row now and it is getting boring.

    Any ideas?

You may want to run a RAM test on your PC, also, I image you are running the correct GPU driver?

Re: Runtime error while rendering a timeline

Since posting earlier I have re-booted PC and have successfully rendered timeline in batches (to see if there was an effect causing the problem), but it all went OK.

Im on driver 377.11, which seems to be highest I can do with my Quadro4000 and Windows 7 (am saving up for a new one).

Odd you should mention memory - I have long since suspected this machine has some deep rooted problems. Frequently have to boot it twice to get all the services started. Sometimes the display fails to come alive, sometimes it is stable for a few minutes and then reports that the display driver stopped but then recovered. I have assumed it was memory on the Graphics card.

I plan to upgrade to Win 10 after this project gets signed off. - see if that helps

OK, all fans are running, especially on the graphis card? Time for a compressed air cleaning?

always keep a working image of your sytem drive.

i'd say RAM would rather cause bluescreens. i'd look at drive / sata drivers

    chkdsk /f

view event logs -> windows -> system

have a glance at hhd led when funny stuff happens.

Re: Runtime error while rendering a timeline

TVJohn - All good suggestions -  Yes checked all the fans are running. I give it a blast of air every so often and it is reasonably dust free. I will check memory, although I suspect Graphics card or System drive giving notice.

Lukas - Imaging system drive as I type. I thought I did that regularly too, but when I checked the last time was in 2014!!

maybe the excuse I need to get a SSD system drive.

Will report back with results. Thanks both for advice.

    OK, OK.

    SSD on order!

And graphics card - see you have GTX1070 how do you find it? I was looking at Quadro P4000 but it is expensive.

Re: Runtime error while rendering a timeline

    good boy.

yeah, gtx 1070 serves me very well. handles everything with ease, no hickups

never even matched the driver tbh.

look for a version that pushes the warm air out of the case.

i think the "reference design" does, or something with pre-installed watercooling.

    Hi Lucas

Drop everything and get an ssd immediately.

How about M.2 PCIe SSD - making a build with one right now intend  putting the W10 operating  system on it .

the one I chose is Apacer SSD Z280 .. great are the expectations .. they tell me the future is PCIe once they release suitable capacity at an afffordable price .. it's an expeiment with Flash Drive for the OS  and SSD'S for everyhing else .. cheers

PS .. still following your posts after all these years .. Cheers

sata vs pcie doesn't matter for OS.

OP can't install pcie in his legacy machine.

but yeah, pcie ssds have better sustained read/write rates.
