daxmaestro: Ok, so as an update to anyone reading this. I tried older Nvidia geforce drivers, the ones suggested, to no avail. I kept reading how unfriendly media composer was with geforce. Some had luck, others not so much. So, since I'm getting heavier into it video production, I decided to leave the Alienware gamers world, and upgrade to a workstation. In short, never had any luck getting it to open on the Alienware. I just got a Dell Precision M5510 Xeon with Quadro m1000m, and after an initial showdown with my ilok card, it opened right up, on the first try, as if it said thank you for getting a Quadro buddy. Well, I'll play around with it and report back if or not any other issues arise. Guess I wasn't one of the lucky ones who got it to work with the Geforce. (1060gtx)

Thank you Marianna.
I seem to have a new problem now. Whenever I try to open media composer for the past few days or so I get this:
An error has occurred: Could not create DataFormatEnum File: ..\..\src\CompressionManager.c, Line: 3597
Dell Precision M5510 / Intel Xeon CPU E3 - 1505M v5 @ 2.8ghz / 32 gb Ram / Samsung Evo SSD 1tb / WD Blue M.2 SSD 1tb / Nvidia M1000M
Pro Tools 2018
Media Composer First 2018

I think this has something to do with PT being installed as well as MC First. Try unintalling MC First and then using spotlight for example... search and delete anything related to the word "Avid", then re install. Check your disk as well with the disk utility to ensure all is ok there too.
if it still doesnt work - ping me back
I've been at this almost all day, but finally got it to work.
I uninstalled MC First, as you suggested, and used the program Wise Force Deleter. I uninstalled everything "avid", which resulted in it taking out Pro Tools. I re-installed MC First by itself. Same error came back. So, uninstalled MC First again, deleted "avid" with the deleter program, and this time installed Pro Tools, then MC First. It opened up. Will test it out and let you know, but so far it at least opens.
Sounds good but thats a serious root canal to install..... Report back as I might want to take a deeper dive into your system.

Thank you will do
