AndrewAction: camoscato:Is there a specific order in which you have to install MC and Pro Tools for them to work together? There is a recommended install order. Install Pro Tools first. The odd time I have installed Pro Tools over MC I have not had any issues during the installs process. FWIW I believe the recommendation is made as the Pro Tools install overwrites a file of two of MC's audio install and this MAY cause MC audio issues in some systems.

Thanks for that, mate. I remembered reading something about this, but I don't have any PT experience, so I wasn't sure if it was important or not.

I give up
It sucks, I know, but given the fact that the Media Composer trial ran ok, all I can think is there's some conflict between some part of the Media Composer trial that's leftover after being uninstalled and Media Composer First. Unfortunatley, I think the only way to confirm that would be to do a fresh install of Windows.
Hopefully someone else will come up with a better idea. Keep in mind you posted the day before a major holiday period, so fewer people are around to see your post and throw up suggestions.
Still, no one has figured out why i keep getting this error message 🤔
Why am i getting this Error Meg:
exception:std::exception,what acf call failed: m_acfsingletonmgr->get component(acf compid_cthost,iid_ictmaster,(void**)m_ctmaster.outarg()), error code 0x8007045a,file..\..\src\compressionmgr\catwrapperconfig.cpp line 389
The sofetware loads and begins to run but when it gets to the part saying "READING AVAILABLE RESOLUTIONS"'
It gives me that error msg..
Hi MrNate3. Can't tell for sure, but I believe that there's some bits and pieces left from the MC trial conflicting with MC First.
Did You try to fully uninstall the software and manually cleaning whatever is left in the HD?
peace luca
1. fully uninstall the software and manually cleaning whatever is left in the HD?
2. That means look for anything with Avid and if found - delete it.
3. Then look at the readme for MC and follow the PT/MC install process.
Note - I would uninstall PT as well and see if you can get MC First going before adding on to that

i did all of that and just installed mc first and im still getting the error msg
Hi did you get to fix the problem? If not go back to Driver version: 388.13. That is what I did and it worked..
I tried that Driver version 388.13, but error still keeps popping up. I have MC First. My system is Alienware 15r3 / i7 kabylake / gtx 1060 / 32gb ram. Any chance there could be a clash with my other editor (Power Director 16)? I've actually uninstalled MC, Pro Tools, and even did a wipe and os reboot. To no avail. I also am using Pro Tools 2018.1
Dell Precision M5510 / Intel Xeon CPU E3 - 1505M v5 @ 2.8ghz / 32 gb Ram / Samsung Evo SSD 1tb / WD Blue M.2 SSD 1tb / Nvidia M1000M
Pro Tools 2018
Media Composer First 2018
Hi daxmaestro and welcome to the forums. You may want to try different nVidia driver releases, with MC the latest is not necessarily the best working.
Thank you. will do
Could someone from Avid explain what the "ACF call" is?

Randall L. Rike: Could someone from Avid explain what the "ACF call" is?
Trying to find out but the only time I have seen this happen was when a customer has RAW files - they removed the linked raw files and relinked them again. They also removed all funcky characters/letters from the names of the folders where the media files were stored on their harddrive.
Ok, so as an update to anyone reading this. I tried older Nvidia geforce drivers, the ones suggested, to no avail. I kept reading how unfriendly media composer was with geforce. Some had luck, others not so much. So, since I'm getting heavier into it video production, I decided to leave the Alienware gamers world, and upgrade to a workstation. In short, never had any luck getting it to open on the Alienware. I just got a Dell Precision M5510 Xeon with Quadro m1000m, and after an initial showdown with my ilok card, it opened right up, on the first try, as if it said thank you for getting a Quadro buddy. Well, I'll play around with it and report back if or not any other issues arise. Guess I wasn't one of the lucky ones who got it to work with the Geforce. (1060gtx)
