5K FF pixel aspect ratio bizarreness

    Hi everyone,

    I have few questions :

    1) A 5120 x 2694 pixels image (5K FF) is 1:90 right? But as the pixel ratio is 1.069, it should look like 16:9, no?

    2) In a 1920 x 1080 Avid project, FrameFlex is set to Pillarbox. Lines are missing at the top and bottom of the screen, why? (considering my way of thinking in my first question)

    3) I'm asked to put a 1:85 filler because the operator framed the shots with it, but as I already have lines missing, the mask isn't visible. Do you think the image he put the mask on was cropped? What is the right way to go?

    I'm completely disoriented right now.

You should probably edit this as a 2K DCI Full (2048x1080). That maintains the aspect ratio. If your final output is HD then you are probably better off cropping to size. Otherwise, change the import settings (settings->import) to resize image to fit raster format and then re-import your clips. This will get all of the image, but you'll have to manually resize them to recover the proper aspect ratio.
