I can't use linking, MCF wants to import video and audio (any) files. Doesn't metter the format of files. Project format is locked to 720x486@29,97 (NTSC) but I use 25fps. How to change the project format and enable linking?
Hi,
Monter:I can't use linking
Can't use linking why? What happens when you try that's keeping linking from working?

If First works like the full version, you can't switch a project from 29.97 to 25. If you work in 25, you need to create a 25 project.

How to create a project other then NTSC? Every projects I try to create are NTSC by default and no options to change the format. Every clip i try to load must be imported not linked, so no prompt to change format if place in sequence (as in videos Get Started Fast) because they're NTSC already (after import).
I'm confused.

According to this link, you should be able to create PAL SD, 720, or 1080 projects. Can you post a screen shot of your select project window?
Looks like an invalid character in the file path as listed

Tried different clips, different paths, MCF always wants to import.
Here you are.
Hmmmm. The only other thing I can think of is to look at the Format tab of the Project window to see what's available. I'm sorry, but hopefully another MC-First user will come along with more information about how to create a 25 fps project.
I watched Tutorials from Avid site. I think if linking works I could change format and rate. Format tab:
by chance is it iphone foottage?
what happen if you let it import?
tommix:by chance is it iphone foottage?
No, I try footage downloaded from link in my avid account, same as used in video tutorials (Inside The Edit).
tommix:what happen if you let it import?
Footage importing to disk normaly but as NTSC. I can't change format and rate. Project format is NTSC by default and is locked but i need PAL or HD 25fps. Look at my screens posted above.
Monter....
Have you read the user guide.... page 23 is where you want to start. The format tab is important here....

Followed the guide, and: no preview in Source Browser works, can't drag any clip into source monitor, linking doesn't work, only import. Discovered if I click Import in lower left corner of Source Browser dialog box opens and I can choose default project raster and rate, can't change it in the future, only once for ever. I need to do it just after first open a Source Browser.
