Rendering transitions causing a "shift" or "bump" in the video :(

I exported a sample XDCAM mxf file, compressed to YouTube MP4:

https://youtu.be/1qxEzirPCiw (around 00:59:50:09 in the burned in timecode)

Apparently I have an XDCAM timeline with countdown (media is XDCAM HD 422 1080i).

As soon as I place a fade in, there is this "bump" in the video the second the fade completes.

    Don't know what's causing this.

I exported an XDCAM file from Avid.

Any thoughts? Tried different XDCAM media not just countdown, actual footage, etc. still same problem.

BUT if I export a AMA MXF file in Avid DNxHD codec, i do NOT see the issue.

    Here's my timeline:

    thanks :(

    Hi AsafBlasberg,

What version of MC and OS? I will send this to support to investigate.

    Thanks,

    More notes:

Apparently if you change the format from 1080i to 1080p, the problem goes away. This also happens when doing Quicktime reference movies. All in Windows 10 (did not test on Mac).

Looks like the rendered transition is the issue.

RalphC, here's the link to the Avid MediaFiles and Avid Project File so you can try it on your end:

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3qZpshDQcr2Y29CWUdOZXd6VkE?usp=sharing

And project file (open up the timeline called TEMP) and find the cross dissolve in the middle. Then select an IN point of 01:00:02:19 and an OUT point of 01:00:04:11

Create a Quicktime Reference Movie and you'll see the issue. Make sure to select for Media Creation (under Render tab) XDCAM HD 50mbits MXF and check "Use Marks'.

    Thanks,

    Asaf

What are your render settings in Media Creation?  Any chance that renders are being made at a lower quality than the native media?

    Just guessing ....

Same as the source, pretty much.

can you try to download my files jef from the google drive and try to recreate on your end?

Also, FYI, no matter what video resolution i set to, the shift happens, even if you try dnxhd.

for 1080i 59.94 project. If i switch to a 1080P 29.97 project, the problem goes away.  Seems to be some kind of interlace bug when avid creates the mediafiles for the transition.

    Thanks jef,

    Hey Asaf

I added all this to the case notes and can see this myself.  I have Mac so it doesnt happen on my system so might be PC related or Win 10 in combo with 8.9.x.  Jeni has escalated it to the america team that handles repo and bugs.

Stand by as I know you have a deadline.

P.S. - the Countdown mediafile you see in my video - you can download that here:

The file is this one: (Source PacV01.59845984D156V.mxf)

    Thanks again so much.

Use the countdown mediafile to reproduce it, it'll be very easy to see.

    thanks again.
