Time for a "Replace Clip" button?

When working on effects heavy timelines, what slows me down more than anything is how long it takes to replace a clip which has effects associated with it.

With many effects I can step in an change the shot (which slows the Avid down in the processes).

But with things like Symphony CC effects, Motion FX, Frame Flex, LUTs, Audio Suite, levels and EQ, there's no straight forward way to replace a clip.

I've either got to save a preset and re-apply (ie: Audio Suite, Motion and CC) or write down the parameters and re-create the effect (ie: Audio levels, Frame Flex and LUTs).

I think there should be keystroke like the Replace Edit command to simply Replace the Clip but retain the associated effects.

    Let me know your thoughts,

    Jake

Re: Time for a "Replace Clip" button?

There's already a Replace edit command in MC, its button used to sit in the Composer window, between the Splice in and the Overwrite button, its place has been stolen by the Tool palette button long ago. Time to revive and improve it, in a 'multi effects friendly' fashion (or to redesign the way MC handles effects!).

    +1.

It's sort of analagous to a word processing prgram where you can "paste and match style" over existing text.  Sort of.
