    Transfering media files

    Hi

Here is my situation that I would like advice on. I have a 1080/30 project on the c drive. I have 2 4gb esata drives and 191GB of MXF media on one of those drives with that project. That drive is starting to die and before it completely does I need to move the 191GB of media to the other drive and link it to the project. How would I do that?

    Thanks

    Greg

    Re: Transfering media files

Copy the files to the new drive under the following structure,

    drive letter:/Avid MediaFiles/MXF/(numbered folder)

Then hide the original files by moving their folder out of the mxf subdirectory.

The next time you enter Avid it will scan the files and automatically link.

Once the files link you can safely delete the originals.

If that's the only project on the drive you can just copy the whole AvidMediaFiles folder over.
