I'm switching back from a Mac editing system to a Windows based PC.
What do you people recommend ? Win 10 or Win 7 ? I read that Windows 10 Pro has proven to be very stable and faster than Windows 7. But friends told me that Win 10 is ***...
Any thoughts ?
Very pleased with Win10 here and wouldn't look back.
AFAIK the only issues with Win10 is the stuff it does automatically under the hood -- like updates when it wants to or sending data back home -- but all of that can be turned off.
Win 7 here - performance wise it is looks on paper pretty much the same. I had/still have some issues with Win10 drivers for Thunderbolt 2 interface that has me fence sitting for the moment. Win 7 is going out of support soon I think - is it next year? That might force the testing of non certified Win 8 drivers for the TB if nothing Win 10 specific comes along.
Running Win 10 on 1 work machine - seems just as stable as Win 7 so, as mentioned earlier, if you turn off those auto updates it is ok. Can't personally vouch for Win 10 with Avid.
Vote 1 - Dongles.
UME an old engine, now with 4K, mags and furry dice....
i find win 7 more reliable.
seen a couple of strange glitches with network drives in win 10.
seen slight driver issues with mojo DX and nitris in 10.
W10 Pro here - not sure it makes a lot of difference with Avid but definitely seems snappier as an OS. I run it with trad desktop so it looks and plays the same way as W7..
Can we go back to the way audio nodes used to be selected? Please? ie if you have audio nodes at the same time on selected tracks; then selecting 1 audio node selects them all at that time. Having to shift select nodes or add an in and out is time consuming and counter productive. At least make it an option.
