Re: Media Composer v8.7 | NOW AVAILABLE!

Yet another version of Media Composer.

Evertime I get a new version I check to see if markers are  fixed,

A long time ago we could print the image with several lines of text beside.

Very usefull when doing long form editing, For adr and VFX SFX notes etc.

Now we only print one line beside the image.

I KNOW IKNOW    that I can export the lines to a spread sheet but I lose the images.

Would it be hard to fix the markers to print all lines like they use to.

Re: Media Composer v8.7 | AVAILABLE!

I think there is a Bug in Media Composer 8.7.2 on MAC OS 10.12.2

Go to the menu and then window to import media the traditional way. In the import box go  to a folder where you have a bunch of importable files, like 3 Quicktimes. Hit APPLE+A (SELECT ALL) so you could highlight them all.  The AVID will Beach Ball.Doesn't matter if the files are on a server or on your local hard drive.

Can someone reproduce this and can a bug fix be provided asap, because it locks up our AVID.

Also on Media Composer 8.7.2  OSX 10.12.2 I get a lot of DISKIO PMR database file errors that I never had on Media Composer 8.7 on El Capitan.

Re: Media Composer v8.7.2 | AVAILABLE

Anyone having trouble with 8.7.2? I installed it on my 8-core trashcan MacPro (10.11.6) with Blackmagic intensity , and it crashes as soon as I load my project, so I had to go back to 8.6.4. Running fine on my Macbook pro (10.12.3) with no external monitoring. Ultimately need to get both systems to 8.8 for Scriptsync.

Anyone know of anything that crashes 8.7.2?

    Thanks!

Try removing any AVX plugins you might have...they tend to be the culprit.

Re: Media Composer v8.7.2 | AVAILABLE

Hi Kevin-- this is a very vanilla installation, with no 3d party AVX plugins. I tried removing the AAX plugin I added, but that made no difference.

Any other thoughts? My timeline loads, but no video appears in the record monitor. If I try to load a clip or play a sequence it crashes.

    Thanks,

Did you remove all the AMA plugins as well?

That might not be the issue in your case if the app boots. What is the project type/resolution of the media you're trying to play?

Have you tried multiple projects and Avid user profiles?

Re: Media Composer v8.7.2 | AVAILABLE

I have tried multiple projects and users-- created fresh for this purpose. Though now that I think of it I kept the project format the same 1080p/23.98.

    Footage is AMA-linked Canon XF-AVC 2k 4:4:4 23.98.

I only have the Avid-included AMA plugins, though I tried installing the latest Canon XF AMA plugin to see if that helped. No luck.

I have the same results with installing 8.7.2 or 8.8, but working fine in 8.6.4 (which I'm going back to, again, since I can't give any more time to this and not editing today.)

    I appreciate your help,

Re: Media Composer v8.7.2 | AVAILABLE

    Hello,

I have problems with XAVC-L (FS5) in Media Composer 8.7

Playback is perfect, playback with unrendered color correction is perfect.

But after rendering the color correction, I have a lot of color shifts and 'broken' frames, as you can see in the picture.

The number of 'glitches' seems random, and when deleting the color effect, en re-applying, it sometimes disappears, the problem shifts to other frames, or is solved after re-applying and re-rendering... There seems to be no real pattern in the problem.

It happens both with 25p and 50p shots in a 25p project.

Both AMA-footage and consolidated footage are affected with the glitches and color shifts after rendering.
This makes the XAVC-L workflow currently unusable for me.

    Is this solved in 8.7.2?

    Thank you,

    Thomas

Hey, T, have you tried turning off GPU rendering (in Render Settings --
    BTW, checked is OFF).

Those don't look like the glitches I'm always fighting, but since you're on
a Windows machine, perhaps it's just different.

    Best,
    Jason

Re: Media Composer v8.7.2 | AVAILABLE

    Hello Jason,

    thank you for your answer.

    this workaround seems to work.
The issue stopped after checking 'Disable GPU effects'

    Kind regards,

    Thomas
