    MCA doesn't recognize its harware?

i have that feeling that this issue must be already discussed -I did an unsuccessful search first-
so do excuse me if am repeating the same quest.

it has been a week, I'm having the same problem:

Powers off the Adrenaline DNA and the (even the G5/2.5),
plugs in the DV camera on the back of the Adrenaline,
after restart everything and when running the Avid software,
it refuses to recognize the Avid hardware.
(this had been tested on 2 kinds of Cameras)
(no, there was no other device on any FW ports other than the Avid Hardware)

    2d scenario:
    after running the Avid software,
plug the DV cam (usually i hate to do it while the Avid is ON power)
this time the program refuses to see it (the cam.)

after trying everything i find my rescue in the Mojo
but again when copying the OMF files from the AXP syst. to the adrenaline syst.
MCA runs some error leaving me few choices that all leads to exit to finder.
by importing the same DV file i succeeded.

am still running MCA 1.6.5 on Mac OS 10.3.7 (to avoid new Avid bugs)

    what's your suggestions?
    thx

The DNA is acting as if there is another drive plugged into the bus and not a deck/camera. Does  that camera have HD storage capabilities?

Re: MCA doesn't recognize its harware?

I gave you my car.....? How do I get to work tomorrow?  Confused [*-)]

Anyway, I am actually thinking that a good idea would be to uninstall the current version, install an older version (in order to force the firmware to update) and then reinstall the current version to force the firmware to re-flash.

I should hear back from some sources tomorrow and I'll bump this thread then.

A missed communication with the firebob controler could actually mean that you have a bad board inside that DNA.

Have you contacted tech supprt with this problem? I think that they need to take a look here.

Re: MCA doesn't recognize its harware?

A second reason would be if you are trying to either run a camera off of the DV port on the DNA box or trying to use another firewire device on the host firewire bus.

tech support will lead to $$$ and frankly am sick spending my money on Avid while regretting each day not to consider FCP from the begining.

i don't know if this really will help,
i tried the same DV devices on a Mojo and got the exact results!
now while on Xpress Pro i can go arround this problem by disconnectin the Mojo and go directly to the Mac FW port.
how can i do this trick with MCA if MCA just refuse to launch
without having its hardware powered on?
i know it has been mentioned here but couldn't find the thread,
could you refresh my memory, please.

no way, i made sure that the cam. is really on
and the host firewire bus is only connected to the Avid device.

anyway this same issu is happening in 2 different room with 2 different machines
(the MCA is on a G5 and the Xpress Pro on a G4)

i also tryed several FW cables.
