    Plural Eyes 4, No-Go?

Been very happy with Plural Eyes 3 for the past couple of years. A colleague just bought the Shooter suite, and apparently P E 4 is only compatible with FCP and Premiere? Say it ain't so!

According to the Red Giant website, it will only import and export sequences from FCP, Premiere, and Vegas. It still supports MXF files and the DNXHD CODECs so you can still sync up files, but you will have to export the timeline as a file.

According to RedGiant that is correct. As of V4 support for MC is dropped beyond the export media files option.

They won't be updating V3.5 so support for newer versions of MC may be impacted.

    Re: Plural Eyes 4, No-Go?

I exported an AAF of my sequence to my desktop (like I do with v.3), but when I tried to create a new project in PE it wouldn't recognize it.

Do I export another type of file?

Yes - but it's probably worth noting that this workflow is close to useless. I would recommend using 3.5 for as long as you can. You might also register an official complaint with RedGiant so that they have some idea as to how many customers won't be upgrading - evidently they believe support for MC is not worth their time. Yes - you should be annoyed.

You should also register a complaint with Avid that the 3rd party vendors don't think that supporting MC is worth their time.

    Re: Plural Eyes 4, No-Go?

Remember folks.  Avid has integrated a tool similar to Plural Eyes in MC8.5.  Excatly the same? No.  But Red Giant may be calculating that as a result, future sales on the MC side will be to low to make development worth while.

Absolutely true, Dave. Please pass that along on our behalf. Thanks.

Adobe has had sync by audio for much longer and that hasn't stopped RedGiant from developing for Premiere. What I find interesting is that RedGiant likely has no way of knowing how many mc users are using PluralEyes since the single package worked with multiple platforms so one wonders how they made an informed business decision.
