I opened MC 8.3 today and got the "Welcome To Avid Media Composer" window where I choose the type of activation. I purchased my subscription online so I selected Electronic Activation and it took me to the Application Manager and the Licensing tab. My version of MC was there with nothing but the "Deactivate" option available (so I assumed that meant it was okay). I tried deactivating it and got this message: "Failed Deactivation: 0 Deactivation OK. No record of this device was found."
I thought maybe this was an update issue so I uninstalled MC and reinstalled it with 8.4. Still the same problem. So I went to my online account and to the "Activate Product Subscription" page. It was asking me for a Download Code. I don't have one anywhere. I checked all the information pages on my account and all I have is a System ID, Activation ID and Device ID, none of which work. I checked my receipt, nothing. Old support threads, nothing. I can't find any solution to this problem and I need to access Avid this weekend. Please help!
I recently cloned my HD and moved it to another computer. I'm thinking that could part of the reason why this is happening.
I'm running Mac OS 10.10.3

That's probably it. You should contact Avid Support.
http://www.avid.com/US/support/support-contact
Select Broadcast & Video, then on the next page click the + next to Contact Support and call the number listed for your area. Help with activation issues is free, and it's option 2 from the phone menu.
If you still don't get anywhere with them, send an email to Marianna Montague (marianna.montague@avid.com). She's their customer advocate, and can help you.

I'm having the same issue with my software at the moment.
Unlike the other user, I haven't made any changes and was using media composer fine yesterday.
I can use it on my Macbook, including activating and deactivating, but no luck on my PC.
I can't get through to customer service now either as they are closed.
Any help would be appreciated as I've got work to do.

I'm having the same issue. MC 8.4 asks me to activate when It starts. But my license is already activated in the application manager. I tried to deactivate in order to reactivate it back but it fails and appears "no record of this device was found.
Any help? thanks

Hello,
Had the same problem on one of our systems today. We did an upgrade last week from 8.3 to 8.4. Everything worked fine for a few days. All of a sudden AVID wouldn't start anymore today. Activation was ok in the manager but we also couldn't deactivate because of that error.
This system had no hardware changes, only the upgrade.I'm glad Gerald could help me too with this.
I have another collegue with the same problem. He did an upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 yesterday. So maybe that could be a possible cause too. But I can't figure out the cause of the first one.Gr,Patrick

Glad that I have helped you resolved your issue. Feel free to email me back anytime for further assistance.
Yes, I'm up and running now too.
That's interesting about the windows 10 thing. I haven't updated mine but I did have the pre-download ready to go.
Obivously with no WIndows 10 support yet, I'll have to hold off on the update.
Hello Gerarld,
Today exact the same problem. Worked fine yesterday. Next day AVID won't startup anymore.
Had again contact with AVID support.. They did another reset on the System ID.. Again have followed your instructions (deleting some files and folders in the C:\ProgramData\Avid\ folder)
Now everything is up and running again. We restarted Windows again just in case of. After restart still working. Hope it will stay that way.
