I've recently installed Interplay 3.1 on 10.9.5 to go along with Media Composer 8.2.2. I also installed Java for OS X 2014-001 and now I get a Fatal Error. The message reads... java.io.IOException: Permission Denied. If I open Access or Administrator as root via the terminal they open fine. If I login as root and open them they run fine. I've tried re-installing the apps to no avail. Has anyone else seen this? and if so is there a fix?
Scott, did you install using root user? Tried java rollback via pacifist yet?

Have you had any luck with a solution? I have the same issue, 10.9.5, Interplay 3.1 and MC 8.1 while trying to test build a clean lab image. It's a clean 10.9.5 install, fully updated and the only 3rd party software is ISIS client, Interplay and MC. I did not install as root just an admin user.
Had this with a customer on Mac OS v10.10.5 with IP v3.4
Running to show files access failures:
$sudo opensnoop -n AvidInterplayAccess -x
Comparing with other user having no problems starting up Access.
Ended up changing permissions to these files:
$sudo chown [username] /Users/[username]/Library/Workgroup
$sudo chown [username] /Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Workgroup/media_access.settings
$sudo chown [username] /Users/[username]/Library/Logs/Workgroup/workgroup.log
Where [username] should be substituted with the user, having below error message, i.e. $sudo chown admin /Users/admin/Library/Workgroup
All those files/folder had root user set as their owner, somehow.Hope this helps!
