Blackmagic Desktop 9.9.3 MC 7.04 OSX 10.9.1
Intensity Extreme
Entering Trim mode leaves Media Composer completely frozen for minutes then resluts in an
VDM3BobVideoOut::Presync0: Error is BOB device Starti
and
SFplayConsumer::EXECUTE TIMEOUT
and i have to force quit
things were finally in useable order in 7.03..what changed in 7.04?
switching back to 7.03 fixes it. something is really buggered with 7.04 when it comes to trimming!
especiall with shift held down for scrubbing. Instant crash!
I Installed the update last night on a MacBook Pro Retina on 10.9.2 and I couldn't get any external monitoring using the Blackmagic Mini Monitor. The picture freezes and I had several error messages. Even though MC 7.03 isn't qualified for Mac OS 10.9.2, the mini monitor works fine with it. Has any one else had any issues with MC 7.04 or come up with a solution?
Cheers,
Kevin
Im running a new Mac Pro and I cant use my Blackmagic Ultrastudio Express with 7.0.4. 7.0.3 works fine (still slow when trimming though) It gives me this error:
If I toggle the hardware off it works fine. I can also scrub just fine, I just cant play.
Can everyone confirm their OS and BM version installs and I'll escalate this...
Remember, this is supported on OS X 10.9.2...not sure if 10.9.1 is the culprit or not.

OSX 10.9.1 and BM desktop driver 9.9.3
shouldnt it also be supported on 10.9.1? readme says it supports Mavericks so i would assume that means 10.9 10.9.1 and 10.9.2
OS X 10.9.2
BM 10.1
Same playback problem with MC 7.04 as described above.
Mac Pro (Early 2009) 2 x 2.66 GHZ Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570, Mac OS X 10.9.2, Blackmagic Design Decklink SDI, Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 10.1
BM 10.1 and prior to that 10.0
I uninstalled MC 7.0.4 and reinstalled MC 7.0.3, changing nothing else. Playback problems disappeared.
I have escalated it.
Similar issues experienced here.
- Mac Pro running 10.9.2
- upgraded to MC 7.0.4
- BM Desktop video 9.9.3
I get the playback timeout that OP quoted and really flaky playback behaviour - skipping, spinning beachball of death.
I upgraded to BM desktop video 10.0 - not change, still same error and behaviour.
HOWEVER!!!
- running MC 7.0.3 and BM Decktop video 9.9.3 I also got the Slots assertion that has been mentioned prior, but it still played back OK via the Decklink card, i.e. it wasn't perfect, but usable.
NOW, running 7.0.4 I had to deinstall the BM drivers to get anything approaching a stable system.
Same issue here with
- Mac Pro 2013 running 10.9.2
- MC 7.0.4
- BM Ultrastudio 4k
- BM Desktop Video 9.9.3
Under MC 7.0.3 this system was unstable but quite ok.
With 7.0.4 not usable anymore.
"Upgraded" to 7.0.4 using BM Ultrastudio 4K with BM 10.1 drivers
Getting fatal errors when trying to play a timeline. Turning off the Hardware output fixes problem.
Rolled back to 7.0.3 to fix for now. Unstable but workable at least.
SYSTEM:
Mackbook Pro 2.6 GHz Quad Core i7, 16GB RAM
OSX 10.9.2
What's the deal Avid??
I have to say, this is the most messed up upgrade I've ever had from Avid. I'm usually a strong supporter but this is just intolerable. How do you release a .0.x release and break something this badly? I can play about 1 second of video before it just stops, and that's not the worst part. While instaliing and uninstalling drivers, the mac pro will shut down dirrectly after logging in. If I remove the Avid and black magic software, no problems, but the second I reinstall either, shutdown.
Serously, what is up with the testing process at Avid? This isn't just a rhetorical question, I really want to know what your problem is. This issue timed with the rollout of version 8 just adds on the the belief that you can't get it togewther on any front.
