    iNews WS usage

    Hi guys

I would like to know what kind of communication we can establish with iNews (polling only or iNews can push information back to the Tomcat interface as well?

A customer would like to create an WS interface between iNews and their automation

The idea would be to publish the rundown to the automation then provide some feature comparable with the MOS integration we have with some Third party automation:

    - publishing of a rundown

    - all new story / field update / are automatically updated to the Automation

    - this update can be done from iNews for each update (in Real time) to avoid polling or from the automation with regular frequency to verify the iNews notification process in case of disynchronizing between both the Automation playlist and the rundown

    - the automation system cannot reorder the playlist event during the connection of the WS interface

    - all field updated Automation side have to be automatically updated in real time within the rundown

    - management of production cue for both video and graphic events

    - automatic publication and unpublication according to time of the day

    Re: iNews WS usage

Take a look at the iNEWS API white paper here:

Here is an overview of capabilities:

INEWS Web Services provide third parties with a rich set of functions to interface and exchange data with an iNEWS newsroom system. Key functionality includes:

    · Folder navigation and listing

    · Queue navigation and listing

    · Story creation, editing and deletion

    · Messaging

    · Searching

    · Monitoring queues for changes

Customers can get the API documentation from the download center (in Avid iNEWS Development).

Third parties can sign up to get the SDK here:
