    Sony HDR-PJ710 files into Avid?

    Sony Camera HDR-PJ710.

    Shoots AVCHD.

When I try to import into Avid- the Sony Camera Folder is grayed out.

Avid can not see the files and allow import.

This doesn't seem right. I check for updates/drivers, etc. Nothing.

I can import into FCP- no problem. Even imovie and iphoto allows import.

I prefer to import direct into the Aivid vs other program- than bringing it into Avid

    Anyone have a solution?

    Thanks

    5.0

I'm willing to upgrade to 6.5 if it supports more files like this.

I am currently importing Full 1080p source through FCP and then importing that file into Avid as DNxHD.

Obviously I would like to import once- direct into Avid.

That cam is using Sony standard Avchd files and I´ve created tons of projects using files from those cams using first Avid 6 and now 6,5.

Workflow is to ama link to volume, no probs at all, a transcoding of the sequense is needed before exporting out or before doing heavy edits.

MC 7 is even better and if you upgrade to 6,5 now you´ll get 7 for free when it is released.

    OK

I downloaded the 6.5 trial. (Windows and layout look super cool)

I tried to link to volume with the HDR plugged in via USB and dr I've mounted.

The AVC folder from the camera is grayed out.

I tried Link to files and the AVC folder is good, but I get an assertion failed error.

please explain step by step how to get the files into Avid

    much appreciate.

    reboot. Same thing.

Make sure you have the avchd AMA plugin loaded.  There is a link in settings under AMA.  Then copy the dated camera folder to a hard drive and link from that.  You cannot AMA link to the camera directly.

I have done that more times than I can remember, in fact already at the initial Stockholm demo of the first 64 bits Avid.

    Works excellent.

Re: Sony HDR-PJ710 files into Avid?

    Thanks for the help.

Copy folder from camera to HD worked and I was able to Link- BUT- None of the 1080 60p files are showing up. All other files (29.97 and 23.97 Frame rate files) link in.

So now- I need help with 1080 60p.....?

I changed project format to 1080/59.94- but still doesn't work.

    Thanks again

Last post in that linked thread tells that 1080 60p not is certified, if you look closely in Avid there is no profile for it either.

If you need it badly there are workarounds but you are on a trial now, there is also no publish options for 1080 60 ( or 50 ) P in broadcast, bluray or web publishings.

The old Dvd standard, that not are going to change, isn´t compatible with 60p either.

If you need it for slowmo projects Squeeze and the Avid J2k codec can handle this, if this is of any interest for you I can evaluate that workflow for you.
